Last year I went to see my GP following an episode of severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding. A stool sample analysis showed high markers for inflammation in my bowel. I also have several family members that have been diagnosed with IBD, both Colitis and Crohn's. I was referred to Dr J Stenner but was seen by a member of his team, and was given an appointment for a sigmoidoscopy which discovered several polyps. After this, I had a colonoscopy which found and removed a total of seven polyps, but nothing that could have caused my symptoms. A follow up appointment was made but then canceled by the hospital. The next appointment was again cancelled by the hospital. During this time I have continued to have occasional flare ups of pain, diarrhea and bleeding. Finally, a year later, I had a follow up appointment that was not cancelled, and I met Dr Stenner for the first time. He spent maybe 60 seconds glancing through my notes, and told me there was nothing wrong with me, and that my symptoms are due to "some irritation". I don't feel that he had any interest in helping me, and just wanted to fob me off and get me out of his office as soon as possible.
