Dr Firth is a very experienced doctor. I saw him today at the Renal Transplant follow up clinic. Dr Firth listened to my concerns regarding taking folic acid tablets, previously prescribed with no explanation by another doctor. He also reassured me that my iron levels would be taken care of with another iron infusion when required and arranged for an additional blood test which was done today to check that level. I also asked about blood pressure tablets as I was concerned that my blood pressure could be too high and Dr Firth explained how to do a blood pressure reading at home (using my home monitor) This was extremely helpful as he advised to check twice and use the second reading, for accuracy. Dr Firth also asked me to take four readings over two days so that an accurate assessment could be made. We also discussed the different blood pressure tablets available; which would be suitable and possible side effects as I had briefly tried some previously but had not persevered because of the side effects. Dr Firth listened to all of my concerns and gave me valuable information and reassured me.
