I was admitted to Warwick Hospital at Christmas 2011, due to problems with my gallbladder and was subsequently found to have small stones trapped within my bile duct. I then had to have an ERCP to remove these stones and was placed under the care of Dr Shearman. My last experience of an 'op' was ten years previous at Warwick, when I gave birth to my son. It was very traumatic and I have suffered with flashbacks, panic attacks and severe anxiety ever since, so as you will imagine, I was very nervous to have this procedure. As soon as I met Dr Shearman I was bowled over by his kindness, compassion and he put me at ease straightaway. He explained what would happen and I felt safe; I trusted him immediately! However, he also explained that should I not feel at ease and should, due to my anxiety, the operation be compromised either for myself or for him, then it would be stopped and other arrangments would be made. I can honestly say that I don't remember much about the ERCP at all! What I will always remember is the care I received and his wonderful humour and kindness. I cannot think of anyway he could improve, all I do know is we are extremely lucky to have Dr Shearman at Warwick Hospital and I can't thank him enough for what he did for me.
