The care given to me by Mr Rink and his Bariatric Team was fantastic. They are all caring, understanding and absolutely professional. The team put me at ease on the morning of my operation, from the Ward Sister who admitted me to the anaesthetist who held my hand. Unfortunately the ward I was admitted to after my operation was totally unsuitable. It is a very busy ward with patients admitted 24 hours a day. The noise levels at night by incoming patients and their families was not conducive to patients trying to sleep. The nursing staff and porters on this ward also made no effort in lowering their voices at night. When you have surgery surely recuperating in a quiet, calm environment will only help speed recovery. At one point on the ward at about 2.25 am I was left terrified when a newly admitted patient’s husband opened my curtains to see who I was. I certainly was not expecting that, I was so frightened I wanted to discharge myself from hospital.
