I was apprehensive of this treatment, (FESS), as it is not the first time I I have had a smilar treatment for the sme issue, (where I had the balloon treatment, that didnt require any removal of tissue). I was told at the time (10 years ago) that the balloon treatment was preferable due to the proximity of the sinus to the eye socket and the occular region, and the (albeit) low chance of damage or complications that could arrise from the treatment where material was to be removed. This time however, the pain and chronic sinusitis had returned, and the consultant had advised there was no option but to opt for the removal of the tissue to widen the sinus. This all being the case, I was not only apprehensive about being under general anaesthetic, but also due to the complexity of the precedure I was about to have. Dr Jones was a very attentitve and professional anaesthetist, who quicly administered his cocktail of analgeasic and sedatives. In the past technicians and doctors have failed to hit my vein first time, and this has led to discomfort, but with Dr Jones, I didnt even feel the needle go in; his decades of experience and expertise enabled a swift administration of the anaesthetic, and his bedside manor both before and during the sedative kept my anxiety and worry to a minimum. Overall I cannot reccommend this anaesthetic consultant enough and I have nothing but maximum praise for every aspect of his work.
