I had a partial knee replacement on the 1 Dec 2023. My initial contact with Dr Hywel Jones was telephonically prior to admission. He telephoned me at the scheduled time and explained the procedure and the reason for using a spinal block. He gave me the opportunity to discuss any concerns I may have had and put me fully at ease with what would happen on the day. I was scared about having the operation with only a spinal block but Dr Jones explained that he would also administer some drugs that would make me sleep. The spinal block is much better for recovery and I am grateful for this approach. On the day Dr Jones put me completely at ease with his bedside manner, professional but also talking to me about non operation topics to keep my mind off what was about to take place. When I woke up after the op he was very attentive and still keeping me updated. Dr Jones is an awesome anaesthetist. 6 weeks post op I am doing well.
