I also recommend Dr Whatley. He diagnosed ulcerative colitis for me, at a time when I had thought my results were inconclusive. I really liked his honest, direct approach and the fact that he treated me as an adult. He seemed reliable and on the ball.

I am an 81 year old woman, living alone with no family and no next of kin. I contracted chronic gastritis, the helicobacter pylori infection and intestinal metaplasis. I had a number of OGD endoscopies and colonoscopies at Tameside Hospital. I felt lonely and anxious, and because I have numerous food intolerances which restrict my diet to only 6 foodstuffs and only water to drink, my social life is non-existent. Being seen twice by Dr Whatley has hugely changed me. I have to have an OGD endoscopy without sedation every year, because I have no-one to collect me and stay a little while with me. Dr Whatley is so skillful that the procedure is nothing more than momentarily uncomfortable. Dr Whatley answers all my questions, honestly and directly. He is vastly knowledgeable, reassuring when I become unnecessarily anxious, He is very relatable, not grand, and he uses wit and humour to good effect . He does not give false hope or dodge difficult questions. I have never known any other doctor who is the perfect person to have by one's side in sickness. He has changed my attitude to illness and for that I will always be profoundly grateful.

I was under the care of Dr Whatley. I would recommend this doctor. From my experience patient care is top of his priorities.

I was admitted to hospital with extremely serious health problems. I was examined by four doctors prior to Dr Whatley, none of the initial doctors were able to make a diagnosis because of the many varied symptoms I presented which seemed to indicate several possible problems. Dr Whatley was the only one who had the insight to realise that this was because I actually had all of the different conditions at the same time. I was dying, I was told to prepare and it would be unlikely that I would survive the night. Dr Whatley spent four months battling every condition I had, including the extra one I contracted whilst in hospital. He is a no nonsense type of doctor, he pulled no punches but he was honest and sincere, kept me informed and saved my life. For the record, I had pneumonia, pleurisy, bilateral DVT and PE, bacterial endocarditis, abscess IN my lung, rare streptococcus strain and contracted c.diff in hospital. My CRP levels were over 300, I was very very poorly. He may not have the softest bedside manner but do you want a doctor to smile and make you feel warm and fuzzy or do you want a doctor to do everything in there vast knowledge to save your life.
