The doctor was very friendly, very clear, introduced herself immediately as we were expecting to see Mr. Leff. We were immediately put at ease. Doctor Fiona was very gentle with my mother, encouraging at every moment and explained plainly and succinctly her every move. She explained in laymen's terms how the consultation was going to proceed before beginning. At the end, my mother had a lot of time to ask questions which were all answered clearly. For example, the results of her ct scan which the doctor had to pull up, breast reconstruction versus implant, and side effects of medication. The liaison nurse was there and interjected when necessary, they made a good team, in good tandem. Doctor Fiona was cheerful, but not overwhelmingly so, she struck just the right balance. Very impressed and very reassured for my mother. The plainspeak was particularly appreciated, it felt inclusive and saved a lot of time and worry. Two things that were difficult, more so than the op, was the corset (extremely uncomfortable) which made her feel like an invalid although she felt no pain from the actual op, and the huge bottles (psychological and unpractical more than anything else). The corset was really very hard on her. The nurses are angelic as well as highly competent.
