I was referred to Dr Roy for an ADHD assessment and I was very unhappy with the whole experience. Firstly, I was only given the copious amounts of plagiarised questionnaires the day prior to my assessment (this should have been sent well in advance to allow me time to fill them in). On our second online meeting I was to fill in even more questionnaires that had taken me 3-4 days to complete and when we spoke, he did not mention them once. I doubt he even looked at them. I felt that as soon as I said I was a mum and was really struggling that THAT was the answer and nothing else should be addressed. He said I had ADHD traits but not enough to diagnose. I asked why he hadn’t touched on the questionnaires I filled out and that I believe that I have something I need help with and asked to explore further as I need help. I even provided a mental health diary. He replied saying that he had done his job and didn’t address any of the aforementioned. I was merely a mum that needed organisational help and was sent links on how to be organised and referred to an anxiety clinic. I have never felt so insulted and defeated in all my life. Dr Roy is in a role which should require a degree of compassion and understanding, unfortunately he does not possess either of these. He should be working with computers, not people. When I have the strength to go back to my gp, I will be asking for another referral with a different Dr.
