I have been seeing Dr. Armstrong-James for a year since moving here from the U.S. My issue has been quite difficult to manage, but there is medication that has helped me along the way. He has run all the tests he can think of to help me. While I have a partial diagnosis from my gastroenterologist, it has been a long road to find the issue in terms of a chronic infection I probably have & all the inflammation that then prevents me from swallowing normally. While I was waiting for my partial diagnosis, Dr. Armstrong-James prescribed medication that helped me (and still does) and I would have been on a feeding tube without it and in a much worse state (whereas on this medication I was eating a completely normal diet like everyone else). I don't think he even realizes how much he's done to help. I don't blame him for not being able to get me a diagnosis yet because it's quite a difficult case to understand and manage. Under his care when I first moved here, I weighed 104 pounds (up from 96 pounds) and then gain an extra 4 pounds due to the medication helping me. He also thoroughly listens and understands more so quality of life for the patient and has been doing his best to get to the root cause. Again, without his help, I would probably be on a feeding tube. I am so grateful.

A disappointing experience. Several hundred £s down and no closer to a diagnosis. He didn't follow up or communicate with me after my second appointment (a brief, expensive phone call) despite having mentioned making a plan of treatment going forward in a clinic letter. I felt he just wasn't that interested.
