Dr Ari is immensely impressive. Many doctors appear arrogant and use jargon and unintelligible medical terms when discussing a condition with a patient. While this establishes the nature of their relationship with the patient, it can leave the latter feeling somewhat helpless, and sometimes suspicious that the jargon is employed to conceal some uncertainty about both diagnosis and treatment. Not Dr Ari. Having reached his diagnosis, he explains clearly to the lay person his conclusions and his consequent recommendations. He looks forward to possible subsequent course of actions should development of the condition not be that originally expected. I understood every step in his exposition and happily accepted that the idiopathic nature of my mid-occipito-parioetal headache meant that we would be feeling our way forward to the correct treatment. Dr Ari displayed confidence and openness. He was prepared to listen to me and my wife and take our wishes into account in finding the best way forward. After each visit he left us feeling impressed by his evident concern and happier and more confident ourselves. I have been in hospitals four times: for bowel cancer, an infection in a wound, and two hip replacements. In the course of these treatments I have come across several doctors. If pressed to rank them, I would place Dr Ari very highly indeed.
