I was referred to Dr Shonde for 2 appointments - one for gastroenterology and the other to check my liver function. I made two separate appointments to make sure that both were looked into but he cancelled the liver function appointment without informing me.(when I found out that it had been cancelled I phoned his assistant to ask why and was assured that both aspects would be taken care of at the same appointment) This was not the case - he just seemed to be determined to carry out a colonoscopy but didn’t even carry out a physical examination during the consultation, just made an appointment for the colonoscopy the following month. The procedure was awful - I was sick for 3 weeks afterwards with severe shoulder and abdominal pain and my bowel ceased to function at all for Most of this period. I contacted the hospital to ask for advice and I was told that it was normal to feel that way. My biopsy results from the colonoscopy were all negative and Dr Shonde wanted to send me for further investigation on my small intestine... ...but I wouldn’t trust this man as far as I could throw him. No doubt he is financially very successful but I don’t think that he listened to me and I was very much of the opinion that he gets paid for every procedure he carries out and that money was his sole motivation. My symptoms remain the same as they were before the procedure and although I told him this when I went to his clinic to discuss my biopsy results, he still wrote a letter to my GP telling him that my symptoms had disappeared. I notice that he didn’t sign the letter personally, which no doubt means that he can’t be held to account for lying about my case.
