This Doctor is caring, understanding and compassionate. He listens well and has a knack for grasping the problem and is quick to recognize your illness or problems. He will listen attentively and allow you the time to explain what is wrong without interruption or clock watching. I would whole heartedly recommend him as a fine GP

I use the Guestling branch in Chapel Lane and I have been impressed by the efficiency and friendliness from all who work at the practice. During a routine examination a potential problem was spotted and the speed of referal and follow up has been second the none. Appointments are readily available and I have always been attended to in a timely and efficient manner. This is my first experience of a country practice and I really like the "all in one concept" with pharmacy and nursing staff on hand.

Dr Chopra is an outstanding G.P. who displays all the elements of good practice and more. His diagnostic skills are second to none as demonstrated by diagnoses of glandular fever and a hitherto unrecognised heart condition in myself. His liaison with the local hospital in both in securing treatment and ensuring adequate follow up is rigorous and thorough. He and his staff are always courteous and highly professional in their delivery of health care and the local Guestling surgery provision, both in its siting and appointment system,is excellent. I am given to understand that the current provision of remote G.P. Services is under threat and a more centralised cluster regime is being favoured. This certainly runs contra to the care in the community idea and is at risk of further isolating elderly populations in rural communities such as Guestling especially. I presume that this proposal is being dressed up as efficiency of service, rather than cost reduction. It fails to recognise however the outstanding contribution of G.P.s such as Dr Chopra and, with demographic patterns being weighted towards increasingly elderly populations in the future,it will set in motion a future time bomb to be laid at the door of already beleaguered hospitals ,many of whom are already posting black alerts. I do realise that,in a democratic society, the general populus has a means of making its voice heard through the ballot box. I do fear however,as with many public services, the damage may already have been done and the situation be irretrievable. I therefore urge that serious consideration should be given to the clients, both service providers and patients, before any 'rationalisation ' plans are carried out.

I am always impressed and reassured by the professionalism and kindness of Dr Chopra and his staff. We are able to walk to the Guestling Surgery and invariably offered an appointment within an hour of calling the surgery at 8.30. Tests and prescriptions are always made promptly and referrals followed up . I understand there has been a proposal to close the Guestling Surgery and 'rationalise' services at Station Plaza. As the Bus Services are currently to be drastically reduced, there is virtually no parking at Station Plaza , and frost and snow can make the hill at Batchelor's Bump impassable, a surgery at Station Plaza would be at best, very difficult to access and sometimes completely inaccessible for us . Compare this to a healthy ten minute walk .... with no carbon emissions. This Practice has diagnosed, treated and supported my husband through two serious illnesses. I am horrified to think that this excellent practice might be 'restructured ' or rationalised when it provides such excellent care.

Having moved to the ' country' , I feel very fortunate to be accepted into Dr Chopra's surgery at Guestling. He has proved to be an exceptional Dr. He always comes across as being interested and keen to resolve issues doing what is best for the patient. Having recently suffered several TIA's , he has continually monitored my well being , pushed the hospital to find a cause and kept me up to date with any findings. If we were to lose this local surgery and Dr, I am not sure what we would do as any visits would need to be planned in advance due to public transport and cost. Services like these are very few and far between and need to be supported to ensure communities needs are met. Moving to centralised surgeries would be a false economy and cost the NHS and local Government far more in the long run. Please don't be short sighted. Allow this Dr to do what he does best.. Care! , Where he does best....His local community!
