I had my surgery with Ioannis in December 2023 and have nothing but positive feedback on my experience. I was keen on meeting him in person for my initial consultation despite living in London; I brought my partner and we had a very detailed conversation and he took his time and answered all the million questions we had with a lot of patience and confidence. I then had to delay the date of the actual surgery because of other health issues, but Ioannis was understanding and gave me a new date based on our discussions around surgery recovery. On the day of the surgery, we arrived at around 6.45 and Ioannis was the first to say hello, gave us instructions for the day, and put us both at ease with any anxiety or question we had. He always remains calm and confident and I really needed that on the day. The team at the hospital were great and supportive throughout the day - there were lots of different people from the team coming into the room pre op. And then we just waited until about 13.00 when another nurse picked me up, asked more questions and then helped me get settled in the theatre with the anaesthetist prepping me to get under while making jokes - I am still smiling thinking about those moments. The surgery took about 2h and when I woke up I felt really cold, so the nurse started to blow hot air under my blanket (I mention this because it felt like heaven). Ioannis came to check on me after waking up and said he was very happy with the results and he didn't have to join the scars in the middle, which I was really pleased to hear. I kept being really slow and when the nurses brought me drinks and food, eating felt like the hardest thing to do and it took me ages to finish, but they were very patient and let me take my time. I still felt quite dizzy for a long time and the nurses and Ioannis kept an eye on me so that we were able to leave the hospital in the evening. Ioannis gave me his contact details so we could stay in touch in the next few weeks about any questions and updates on the recovery - I felt really reassured about this. In moments of panic, I messaged him and he would always message back just a couple of minutes later. The recovery from surgery went really fast, I didn't experience much pain at all and were able to be independent again quite quickly. The surgery made the recovery from my other health issues much worse, but we had anticipated and planned for that as much as possible. I am so amazed at the results of my chest - sometimes it feels so natural and normal (how I always felt in my body anyways) and sometimes I still can't believe the surgery actually happened. It has certainly changed the way I am relating to my body and how I show up in my life; I can't wait for all the ways the surgery has changed my life that I am yet to experience. I recently went on a holiday and stood in the sun for a moment (not very long as I am still only 4 months post op) and it was the first time that the sun kissed my bare chest, I am still feeling so nourished by that feeling. Thank you, Ioannis, and the whole hospital team! Good luck with your move to Athens! And I love your podcast.

From the beginning of my consultation, Mr Ntanos was fantastic. He told me that there wasn’t anything that would change his decision to offer me surgery following my referral, but that the discussion was for us both to be sure he would be able to give me the best possible treatment. I believe this man doesn’t sleep. I don’t mean this in a bad way, but he was always very quick to respond to emails or any general correspondence when I had questions or concerns and was very reassuring throughout the whole process. My consultation itself was late in the evening at my request and I was very grateful to be accommodated in that way. On the day of surgery, I was the second patient of three to have surgery with Mr Ntanos. Him, and all of the team at the Pines were fantastic, very friendly and helped put me at ease. I was grateful for how calm and relaxed everyone was as it was my first time undergoing surgery and with general anaesthetics. In terms of results, I had an uneven chest and I now look symmetrical for the first time since puberty. I’m very happy with my surgical results. Everything looks very natural, suits my body and I have been healing well with no complications (almost 4 weeks post op as I write). Although, as mentioned above if I did have any issues I’m confident that I would get a quick response and things would be resolved.

Had an amazing experience with Mr Ntanos from start to finish. I felt at ease, well informed and well cared for throughout the consult, pre and post op.

Ioannis was absolutely amazing with my care, as were all staff members at the hospital. I had my top surgery January 9th. All worries were completely alleviated by the professional but kind manner staff acted in. Ioaonnis consistently answered any questions I had leading up to the surgery and on the day. Staff were all absolutely lovely during my recovery on the day, and at my follow up appointment. Have honestly told so many people about how impressed I was with it all. Furthermore, my results are looking absolutely amazing, couldn't be more happy with Dr Ntanos's practice, care, and surgical ability. I have various disabilities including autism, ehlers-danlos, and POTs, and all of these were well taken into account. 100% recommend Ioannis.

I was terrified about getting surgery because I have had bad medical experiences and also I’m autistic. Mr Ntanos was aware of this and worked hard to put me at ease from my initial consultation with him through to having my dressings removed. I was very scared about having the IV put in, in theatre so he held my hand and chatted to me to distract me, it didn’t hurt at all and I barely noticed it. I received a high level of care and have had minimal pain and discomfort. I’m very happy with my results so far (only 4 weeks along) and with the support I received after leaving the hospital. Mr Ntanos literally saved my life and is an amazing ally. All the staff were respectful of my pronouns and gender. Very happy
