Within 5 minutes of sitting in Dr. Banerjee's office I was diagnosed with a potential phaeochromocytoma and started on medication to reduce my blood pressure. I've seen him weekly/fortnightly for the last few months and I can honestly, hand on heart, say that he has changed my life. I was completely dejected before I saw him and was told that if he can't fix me then nobody could, a prior patient of his told me that he was the best. They were right! This review comes with a back story! I have spent the last 3 years of my life being ignored, misdiagnosed, mistreated, tried around 20 different medications (sone which were dangerous for my condition) and told that my symptoms are in my head. My youngest daughter was unecessarily induced and I was put onto anti-depressants as I was told that my symptoms were a physical manifestation of depression and anxiety. None of which was true. Turns out I do have a phaeochromocytoma, despite being told numerous times by cardiology that it was too rare, I was too young, too many organ systems were affected for it to be one cause unless it was depression (apparently being visibly upset when you've spent 4 weeks bed-bound or in a wheelchair and 3 years being ignored means your 100% depressed according to that cardiologist) and it was more likely that I was just hungry! Unbelievable. The difference between that consultant and Dr. Banerjee is immeasurable. Dr. Banerjee gets on your level and explains in a way that you understand. No 2 minute appointments that feel rushed or like you aren't being heard. He asked me for my story and then treated me as the individual that I am. I never once felt like he didn't have time for me and I always come out of my appointments laughing. I genuinely feel that I'd have just kept getting worse if it wasn't for him. I believe if you are going into that profession then you should want to help people, to listen to them. I wish there were hundreds of him, there would be a lot less unheard, unwell people!

The best doctor I have seen. Only one that has ever listened to me. I have been going since 2015 and he always remembers me. He has helped me considerably. Because we work together. Brilliant man. All I can say is thankyou.

Dr. Banerjee is helping me to control my thyroid during pregnancy. My situation: - a series of miscarriages (9) - thyroid antibodies - generally ok functioning thyroid After I had tested positive for thyroid antibodies I was offered to participate in a trial with levothyroxine. However, the medication given during the trial was too strong for me. Luckily, this meant I got to see dr. Banerjee. He decided my thyroid did need to be monitored and regulated prior to and during pregnancy, where other doctors had not found the need based on a single thyroid function test (despite the amount of miscarriages I had already had at the time). I now have a healthy daughter and am expecting my second in a few weeks. Having been monitored regularly by dr. Banerjee we have established that my thyroid does get unbalanced from time to time. In those times I have never been able to hold onto a pregnancy successfully: e.g. for my second child wish my GP had to take over as the waiting list for an appointment with dr. Banerjee was simply too long and I am not that young, so in a bit of a hurry. My thyroid levels were approved according to the receptionist and so I got pregnant to find out during my first consequent appointment with dr. Banerjee that he was unpleasantly surprised my levels had been found ok. Indeed, at 12 weeks I found out I lost that child. In conclusion: Monitoring my thyroid is key for me and I might still be childless if it wasn't for dr. Banerjee. Dr. Banerjee takes time to explain results and diagnoses. He even sketched things to explain. This makes me feel more in control of my treatment plan and more capable to explain my condition to other doctors such as gynecologists who need to know. He asked me for my level of education. At first this question surprised me, but now I think it helped him judge how he could best explain my condition to me. It was a question in my own interest.

I have a condition which is not widely diagnosed called Reactive Hypoglycaemia. I had over a decade of symptoms, misdiagnosed as T2, my first referral, was not good, my GPs were struggling to help me. Having hypos and gaining weight despite dieting. I was finally referred to Dr Banerjee. He, having witnessed a hypo at my appointment, started tests, having an idea that hypoglycaemia was the cause of my symptoms. After quite a few tests, eOGTTs, 72 hour fasting test, Dr Banerjee diagnosed me. He used myself and another female patient who also had the same condition to further tests and using a dpp4 inhibitor(sitagliptin), which proved that increasing the initial insulin response, it helped reduce the imbalance of glucose, this helps with dietary control. Which is usually a low carbohydrate diet. This thinking was inspiring because hyperinsulinaemia and high circulating insulin was the cause of my problems and symptoms. However, notwithstanding, it does not stop the hypos, if too much carbohydrate or as in a glucose tolerance test verified. Because of the lack of real information, and the tendency to not recommend a low carbohydrate intake, I had to discuss and get his confirmation of the ramifications of both my intolerance to certain foods and how it would effect my life. Dr Banerjee, listened carefully and considered our discussions and offered advice and an assurance of confidence in all that we were doing. My last hypo was four years ago during my last oral glucose tolerance test. I am continually in or around normal blood glucose levels. The inspiration to use a diabetic drug has helped me with my lifestyle. I am convinced that if not for Dr Banerjee, I believe I would be certainly very ill if not worse. I will be eternally grateful for his knowledge and his time.
