I think the policy on patients own medication needs reviewing. I understand the need for this to be locked away, but those that are deemed appropriate and able to self medicate with their own medications should be given the choice to do so.

Just had a few issues/confusion with arranging my preop at the hospital in Manchester but I believe that is because my surgeon was new to operating out of there. Otherwise everything has been brilliant.

The best hospital with the best staff. If there was anything I needed, someone was there instantly looking after me. They were all very thorough with their checks and monitoring. All the nurses were so kind and friendly. All contact from tonic from start to now has been amazing, they’ve phoned when they’ve said they would, they’ve remembered things that I’ve told them about myself, they really do care. Everything is very thorough.

The entire team was in incredible! My only feedback would have been that it would be fab if there was some air con in the rooms - it was a boiling day and I was sweating as were to colleagues

My experience from start to finish has been wonderful. The care I received from the nurses and medical staff has been fantastic. They made all the relevant checks and I never felt like any of my queries were a problem for them x

After looking into a lot of different options for my weight loss surgery, tonic surgery stood out for their constant communication, aftercare and surgeon communication. I am two days out of surgery now and looking forward to all the lovey aftercare team chats and support.

WOW!!! It is hard to find the words to describe what an incredible experience I have had up to date, both pre, during, and post my Gastric Sleeve. Firstly, Dr. Awad is absolutely AMAZING! He is second to absolute none. I have never felt so safe, calm and supported, in my life. Dr. Award’s gentle, kind, personal and friendly approach throughout the whole process so far, has been so incredibly welcomed. From my initial consultation with him, I knew I was making the right choice for me, and even more so that I had chosen the best Surgeon for my procedure. On the 10/06/23 I arrived at The Pines Hospital, Manchester, and within 15 minutes I had already had my Pre-op chat with Dr.Awad, and obs done by a lovely lady (who I’ve sadly forgotten the name of) - she really was a ray of sunshine, on what is understandably a nervous day for anyone having a big operation. I was soon shown to my private room, and made to feel at home and relaxed. I got myself gowned up, and relaxed all day watching TV (which is free), as my operation was not scheduled until late afternoon. Despite a late afternoon surgery slot, I felt more than comfortable and relaxed, and the lovely Nurses and staff at the Pines Hospital were there to answer any questions, and get me anything I needed. Nothing was too much trouble. It felt like a little relaxing solo getaway. Once I was brought down to theatre, I was waiting in the side room for the Anaesthetist, and Dr. Awad to be ready to begin my operation. I was sat with a lovely nurse who kept me calm, and we even had a little chat about the ManCity match, scheduled later that evening. It all felt so calm, and at no point did I feel on edge. Dr. Awad and his incredible Anaesthetist then came and brought me through to theatre, and even whilst I lay on the bed, Dr.Awad was still chatting away to me about my job (I own a Cake Business), joking about bringing him some Brownies. This probably seemed so small to him, but to me, realising he had remembered what I do for a living since our first phone consultation weeks and week before, meant so much. It just goes to show how Dr.Awad really does treat you like an individual, not a number, and goes the extra mile in making sure you feel comfortable, safe, and understood. It felt so personal from start to finish. The operation was over within a blink, and he made sure to come and check in on me once I had woken up back in my room, before going for a well needed sleep, himself. My care overnight was incredible, I was kept so comfortable by the lovely Nurses (one lady who’s name I’ve also forgotten) who stopped and chatted with me whilst giving me my meds, and the lovely Charlie who was such a gentle and kind Man. Charlie (and the other nurse from my pre op) that took my bloods, were the most gentle and painless I’ve ever had. I’ve always had an irrational phobia of needles, and both of them made it feel a breeze. In the morning, once the night staff had handed over, another amazing Nurse called Roz, then took over. She was so friendly, kind, and another breath of fresh air, just what you need when you’ve just undergone major (or what feels like major) surgery. I was discharged at lunch time the next day 11/06/23, and felt fully equipped with my medication and knowledge, ready to continue my recovery at home. I have had daily check-ins with Dr.Awad’s nurse, Debbie, who has been so helpful and supportive during the recovery period. I feel safe, and know if I have any concerns, I can call her at any time. I have been up and about moving since a few hours after my operation, and so far have not needed to take much pain relief. The recovery is going well so far, and I can already feel the incredible changes happening to my body, after my Sleeve. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr.Awad and the team at Tonic for anyone looking to undergo a Gastric sleeve, or any of the other bariatric surgeries he offers, and I would give them 100 STARS if I could. I look forward to giving Dr.Awad and all the team some of my delicious Taylor’s Treat’s Brownies, as soon as I am back working. It’s a small gift, but these guys deserve to be thanked for getting me started on my life changing journey with such a positive experience, finding the ‘Me’ I’ve had trapped in a body I was never truly comfortable in. I will forever thank Dr.Awad & the team at Tonic, for this incredible opportunity to turn my life around, and I cannot wait to see the progress. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! Dr.Awad, you are AMAZING!

The care and support you get at Tonic is second to none. The hospital is lovely and clean and spacious and nothing is too much. I was waited on hand a food for any needs or concerns that I had. I would strongly recommend Tonic, Mr Awad and Burcott hall to anybody that is considering going on this journey.
