Minor Injuries Unit - Montagu Hospital
When arriving at montague minor injuries the waiting room was very busy with a wait time of 3-4 hours, because of my condition I had to wait and was fine with doing so. I was asked a number of questions about why I was there which I gave in full detail and my reasons for being there were very clear with me having facial injuries. I was told to sit down and would be shouted in due course. After almost 3 hours of waiting I was shouted in to be asked the same questions as before and then after a minimal assessment on my face I was told I couldn’t be treated there and had to go to Doncaster for a facial x-ray. None of my other injuries were even looked at from this point, no support was provided for my broken hand in the way of a sling or anything. Why at my first point of questioning wasn’t I told that my condition wasn’t something that could be dealt with at montague and I needed to go elsewhere, instead of waiting all that time? This was also something that had happened to 3 other patients before me. There needs to be a better check in system in place that would allow for less delays for those who can’t be treated there and those who actually can.
