Having just undergone major eye surgery on a badly torn retina and burst blood vessel at Western Eye Hospital, care was taken that none of the tests would be harmful and I was given comfort that everything was on course for a full recovery.

I found boots to be very efficient and managed to find frames in their designer range. They reassured me that I could return with any problems I may have with the varifocals ( always need adjusting- I find) .

The booking was painful: the first agent told me she couldn't check if my eye test was due as well as my contact lens check. She said she would transfer me to the branch but I was just put through to a phone which was not answered. I phoned through again and the agent I got was able to check: how comes he could and the first couldn't. The staff doing the contact lens check up and the eye test were great: efficient and personable. I was kept waiting 20 mins between the two tests which is too long.
