I can’t praise Fiona highly enough. I had emergency surgery resulting in a loop ileostomy, something I’d never heard of before waking up with one. Fiona visited me at home within days of discharge in November and metaphorically held my hand as I learnt to cope and explained things patiently (often several times as my memory was initially dreadful). She talked me through everything bag related, prescription drugs for output control, support wear, diet and all and sundry. She also liaised with my GP and chased up hospital departments on my behalf. We were initially in touch twice a week by telephone and also met at the Stoma Clinic but now just a regular phone check in with a two monthly visit to the clinic. I had a few issues recently and emailed Fiona for advice on how to manage the situation. She was straight on the phone, arranged a change of bag style and has followed up several times since. My care has been superb and short of cloning Fiona I don’t know how it could be improved.
