My experience is just after a assault on myself where I was hit in the head with a bottle. Once arriving at ysbyty Gwynedd by ambulance I was transferred to a bed where I was left for hours slipping in and out of continuous. I had two police officers trying to get me help but the only Doctor who would see me knew less about medicine than the nurses. I was told by the doctor 'You'll be fine but the cut will have to be glued'. Shortly after he left and I never seen him again. After being left a little longer I closed my eyes and for 10 min the police and my family couldn't wake me. I had no help off medical staff at all from what the people surrounding me explained. Once on a ward two nurses asked about the cuts on my head (one at 2" and one at 1/2"). I explained the doctor said they could be glued and I got the most memorable response of laughter as the head nurse said 'Who told you that Stevie Wonder? they will both need stitching' even after the terrible joke I still found the nurses to be very competent and saw to my needs swiftly. I got myself released as quickly as possible the next day. 2 months later my mother had appendicitis which ruptured. Her anaesthetist talked to her in length and wrote up quantities of anaesthetic she would need. Shortly after the talk had finished he was leaving for his home with a student taking his place. My mother was given the wrong dosage of something she was allergic to. From what I was told by friends who were working there, she almost died. 2 separate incidents and I have heard of many many more from friends in the area. I believe this is one of the worst hospitals in the U.K. My constructive criticism is that you might as well re-name this hospital if it continues to be run the way it has been. Perhaps Gwynedd Morgue would be more appropriate.
