A positive experience

Having parking available for those who have temporary mobility problems . I broke my left ankle and require physiotherapy to regain former walking ability, I can drive but cannot park close enough to the hospital to be able to walk in . I have to get someone to give me a lift and then they have to wait around in local streets for half an hour while I have my physio session.

I was treated with kindness and encouraged.

One thing that took me by surprise is that I had high anxiety levels. I didn’t know what I was feeling was anxiety and only worked it out by the modules I was assigned. It would have been good to chat through the scores at an assessment.

I spoke to a trainee who was reading from a script. They asked the same questions numerous times which demonstrated a lack of understanding. English wasn’t their first language which made some areas difficult when using English terminology.

It was disappointing for my first experience of TT as talking to a trainee instilled no confidence in me whatsoever that session would benefit me. Being asked the same questions numerous times and then being asked at the end “do you have a criminal record” was the icing on the cake as it seemed an information gathering exercise rather than any form of therapy. And the questions at the end of this are also evidence of this.

The last “therapist” i spoke to was rude abrupt and left me feeling abandoned.she fired loads of questions at me then wouldn’t let me answer.she discharged me basically making me feel like a liar.luckily I’m not suicidal or TT would’ve had blood on her hands. [name removed]

Get therapists with empathy.i’m sure she’s an isolated case or was having a bad day herself

Everything was straight forward and useful! The receptionist ‘assumed’ I was waiting for a different member of staff and the physio had to come and find me but it was no big deal!

Perhaps insisted that I show my appointment letter which would have avoided the slight delay!

The rigid following the monitoring questionnaire that has not changed since I first experienced it in 2011 then in 2016 is very frustrating. Most of the questions do not relate to my own phobia and mental challenges. it is very disappointing that after more than 13 years, very little progress has been made in my increasing fear of the outcome of medical tests and investigations that can damage my health.

Probably due to limited fundings, this kind of therapy is more applicable to standard mental health problems. the experience of the therapist is also very relevant and while I appreciate the NHS might not have the resources to appoint individuals with more specific qualifications, it is not the most efficient way to spending fundings than by just ticking boxes, specially when they are the wrong ones (!)
