The care, the patience and the understanding shown to me, a 93 year old man made slow by arthritis and pain, by the staff. I was listened to, my questions were answered and Information was repeated as often as necessary....all with sympathy and a smile. I never felt I was being hurried. The fly in the ointment was waiting time and lack of information regarding how long that might possibly be. My initial reception was good with clear instruction as to where to go to register my arrival. I was quickly given a form to fill and equally quickly filled it in, leaving it on the counter because the receptionist was no longer there. Although, it being lunchtime, there were never more than 4 other people wait8ng to be seen, mostly with appointments and despite there being plenty of laughter from invisible staff, we were kept waiting for an hour and a half without any attention or information. I felt that our presence had not been made known to the staff involved . At the age of 93, in pain and somewhat shocked by a fall I was made more miserable by apparent neglect. All that would have been required was acknowledgement that my details had been passed to someone who could tell me roughly how long I might have to wait. Patients are people, often vulnerable people, hurting and perhaps frightened - for that to be acknowledged would go a long way to stop that rather awful feeling that one is a bit of a nuisance .
