In terms of the actual medical staff I would give them all 10/10. The thing that let you down was the reception staff. I had trouble booking an appt online and so called to make a booking - and the lady wasn’t particularly friendly. It’s a well known fact that medical receptionists often aren’t, and I can handle a bit of flippant rudeness, but it’s not a great look at a sexual health clinic. People might be ringing up because they’ve been abused or are young and nervous to get tested. The woman sort of argued with me that I should be booking my appt online - but I genuinely had issues with the website so couldn’t! She made me feel like I was being outrageous calling up to book an appt over the phone and as if I had done something wrong. A lot of passive agressive “well the website works for me” and “you’re really meant to book online”. It’s just not a great look for the clinic! Plus, when I got there, she had clearly not paid attention to my records as she handed me the wrong testing kit (just asking for a urine sample when I actually needed to also provide throat and anal swabs) and hadn’t booked me on with a nurse, just a trainee. So I had to return 2 days later to actually ask the questions I needed to ask, this time with a nurse. It was felt very flippant like the receptionist just didn’t care. Otherwise all the rest of the staff were fantastic (except for the fact that during my consultation people just walked into the room I was in three times - once while having my bloods done and twice during the consultation with the nurse). So that was a bit irritating too.

Suggested improvements
Politer receptionists - be nice, it’s not hard! Maybe locks on the doors?
