Amazing Care, but the hospital needs to work on inclusivity measures. I am Deaf in my right ear, Non-Binary and Vegan, and I felt none of this was logistically taken into account. I recently went for a 2.5h operation with an overnight stay privately with CSP. Upon arriving, I was presented with a menu that was unclear on dietary alternatives. the only diet catered to was vegetarianism, and I had to enquire with the kitchen as what could be vegan, even though I have been booked in for 3 months, and I have heard that it was the same for a friend who went to the Welbeck over 2 and a half years ago, so this is a longstanding issue. There are no Soya/dairy milk alternatives either, or butter alt. In regards to my disability, I was put into a room where my bed had my hearing ear against the wall, so any nurses had to speak to my deaf side. This is upsetting as it is important for me to be able to hear and communicate well, especially in such a potentially critical situation after surgery. When asked if we could move the bed or room, we were told this was not possible - which I do not understand, they told me I would fall off the bed? This was a poor excuse. I would recommend checking with the nurse soon before any stay if you need any extra care. In terms of being non-binary, I was misgendered the whole time (they/them) pronouns, had a male on my wristbands. Please include an 'x' option in future. the number of people that thought Mx is a gender and not a title is also something that would be good to educate on. In contrast, personal care by the nurses and doctors were lovely, and I felt that within all of this they did what they could with the food, and those I was able to correct on my pronouns and be aware of my situation with my hearing did what they could to make my stay more comfortable.
