When I arrived for an operation I was asked to put on a gown that was folded on my bed. As I opened it out I found a patch of dried blood on the back. It had not been cleaned. I returned it back to the sister on the ward - we were both duly shocked (and on my part relatively disgusted). I took the day off and depended on others to do the same to be able to drive me and collect afterwards. Having waited several hours and second to last patient I was wheeled through the whole hospital through a particulalry public thoroughfare to the operating room that made me feel quite awkward. RIght outside the room I was told someone needed operating on. I for sure was grateful not to be that person, but felt humiliated being wheeled back through the hospital again and had to get dressed and go home. Not a great experience. I delayed taking the COvid jabs because of the operation - another one was offered quite soon after and was cancelled with relatively short notice again (at least I didn't have to drive to Royal Surrey from London again). I missed several calls for COvid jab and then caught Covid so needed to cancel this third time myself. Each time I am needing to depend on another person to arrange to be available from work to collect me. I had the operation in the end and was delighted with the results.
