Royal Hallamshire Hospital

How this hospital has such a high rating I have no idea. I was admitted for a prostatectomy and everything that could go wrong fid go wrong. This included the surgeon not giving me enoigh information to make an informed choice, not giving details of the biopsy results and perhaps the worst issue was he admitted not reading a hisyology teport fully and MISSING adenocarcinoma. This last issue only camd to light ONE YEAR, after my operation after I raised a concern about my care. Then finally PALs patronisingly advising they will still look at my complaints but not at anything outside there arbitary timescale of 12 months. Solicitor and GMC duly contacted.

We took my elderley Mum to see Dr Richard Wassall at the pain clinic at the Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. She is suffering chronic pain. Dr Wassall was utterly amazing! So personable, caring, thorough and gave us lots of practical, helpful and knowledgeable and professional advice. We couldn't fault him. He didn't rush us at all, and explained everything carefully, it was an excellent outcome thanks to him. We now have lots of things to try for Mums pain and reassured that there are more treatments available going forward He even gave us valuable advice for ourselves and it wasn't even our appointment. We came away thoroughly reassured

Before and after my mastectomy and diep reconstruction I have had excellent care from cancer care team, surgical outpatients, scanning departments and the plastics team especially Fiona Barber who has been a guide and friend to me and my husband throughout this journey. The NHS has lots of problems but there is no room for improvement where my care has been concerned.

I was on ward N2 after having brain surgery...everyone on the ward couldn't have looked after me any better. All the staff were kind and caring even though they were extremely busy. They answered any questions to the best of thier ability and if they couldn't they found out for me. It was a scary operation but the staff in theatre and the surgeon were exceptionall and kept me at ease. Thankyou everyone

Staff in the Hallamshire hospital and particularly the breast reconstruction nurse specialist, Fiona, is really caring and fantastic.

The staff at the hospital were always busy but always looked after their patients nothing was too much trouble from the cleaners to the sisters on the ward on L2 and intensive care I was looked after very well and always kept in the loop about what was happening with my care.I had heard that the Royal Hallamshire had a very good reputation and they most definitely have. The day care wasn't good at all, down to times I was the last one down, not that mind but the staff that day were terrible, and we're no help, it was right time for you to leave, no sorry was not happy

Telephone appointment. Switchboard staff are nice. Stop hiring private moonlighters that don't care about NHS patients.

Amazing care and kindness from first consultation to surgery. Stayed on N2 after surgery, very clean and caring. Everyone very friendly, I felt involved in everything that was happening. Have been an inpatient in many different hospitals over the years but this is by far the best. The only (very minor) thing that could do with improvement is on discharge, absolutely no fault of ward staff but was waiting for medication for 4 hours after being told I could go home. Again no one to blame, seems the system needs sorting. Ward staff tried very hard to get it done. Would absolutely recommend the hospital to anyone, huge thanks to all involved in my care.
