When I was waiting on the call back, I told the GP my symptoms after receiving a horse fly bite and without finishing my sentence he was adamant it was heatstroke because he’d had lots of calls about that that day. I said I felt sick, dizzy and unwell and I’d been out once during the heatwave to get my daughter from school. I was met with ‘well see how you go in the next 24 hours as it’s a 48 hour thing’. So I said it had been over 48 hours and I was getting worse in which I got the reply of ‘oh. Ok. Well just see how you get on of you can go to A&E’. I’ve never felt so insulted. I’m about to become a medical student and I won’t be speaking to people like that. Reassurance is what I wanted an to be listened to. Not told I had heat stroke when I wasn’t In the sun. I’ve had that before. Just really unprofessional and silly questions and responses.
