My elderly father had very severe back pain, it had been worsening over several days. I was advised to tell him to move more and that no further pain relief would help. I had to dial 999 and after an X-ray 2 vertebral fractures were diagnosed. Wedge fractures of T12 and L2. I felt that I wasted an hour calling 111.

Suggested improvements
More or less everything. It took 20 minutes before anyone answered. The first lady I spoke to was polite and took details. The call back lady was quite curt. In my opinion we should have been advised that an on call GP would assess my father in the first instance, face to face.
