Written by a NHS patient

I was very privileged to be admitted on two occasions for Total Knee Replacements as an NHS patient. I am a retired registered nurse and that alone can make you feel vulnerable as a patient knowing what is going to happen etc. However all members of staff, both on the ward, theatre and and physiotherapists made my experience comfortable and I was treated with dignity and respect at all times. I really appreciated all the kindness and friendliness of the staff who helped to make my experience a truly positive one. There was a particular member of staff who showed such reassuring kindness above and beyond any expectations. I only remember her name as Amanda. She collected me to go to theatre and stayed alongside me throughout the anaesthetic preparation. Having led a team as a Sister in my nursing background, I thought what a wonderful asset she is in her role at the Nuffield for her patients.
