I got the call back regarding my mother today but I was disappointed by the service level since I called regarding review of her medication 3rd week August and we are now first week of October. I didn’t get the outcome I wanted based on my mother and her care nurses. I found the doctor very patronising and dismissive of my concerns, didn’t listen and he actually said I was fortunate that he had called me! What an idiot! My mother has been medicated to the point of being inactive and is getting weaker and keeps having falls and he said this was old age, but it’s sedation I’m afraid. He said she is no trouble now but this is not patient centred care, it’s drugging a patient to the point of inactivity. He used fear in our conversation said he don’t want her back in a psychiatric hospital. I don’t believe he wants my mother to have the best quality of life. He is transferring her to another unit for adult care and I’m hoping to get a better health-care relationship started with them. Clinical psychology is all top-down. If he had engaged better we would have had a more pleasant conversation but his tone aggravated me. Be prepared, and I hope you find a good member of staff there.
