When we first booked in with the midwife at week 10 of our pregnancy, the midwife discussed the option of home birth with us then. At this point we were both quite interested to look into this and consider our options. Being a first time mum at the age of 42, I wasn't sure this would be a realistic option. However following our appointment with the obstetrician, she was happy for this if I went into spontaneous labour. We contacted the home birth team around 32 weeks as we felt very strongly by this point that this was the birth we wanted. We were visited by one of the midwifes who talked us through he whole process in detail, answered all our questions and put us completely at ease that this was right for us. By the time I had come to my due date I had been visited by all of the team, and felt confident that all of them were dedicated to successful home births. When the time came that I went into labour, I feel we received a very professional service that actually felt very personal for us. Each midwife that attended during my labour (4 in total) were very encouraging and positive with both myself and my partner. They were in close contact with the hospital throughout, and were receiving advice as needed from midwives there. Finally our daughter was successfully born at home, and we managed to stay home which I feel was down to an amazing team who worked well together to make this happen in the way we had wanted. We thank you all so much, for making this a positive experience for us. I would definitely recommend this team and home birth to other expecting couples.

Anyone staying more than 24 hours should be offered a private rooms as they become available.

All staff friendly & willing to help if needed. Improved: temps of rooms, too hot.
