Having done a tour of the labour ward. I decided I wanted a water birth if possible. It seemed more relaxed, and less clinical than the normal "bright lights" delivery room. I was able to use the bathing pool, and found my midwife Becky calm and reassuring. The dimmed lights and music helped me stay relaxed. My partner was also able to sit next to the pool and rub my back, which really helped and may not have been possible if I had been lying on my back bed. I was advised being in the water, have helped give a softer delivery and a calm be overall we are so pleased we chose the birthing pool.
