22nd December 2023

Waited 3 hours to be seen and had to listen to others swearing, bragging about their fights etc not nice for my young daughter to hear. I did not feel my concerns were understood, i knew my daughters obs were within range, I was and still am concerned about her presentation, since being poorly her personality has totally changed, she now fears being in her own, she follows me around the house, previously she was a confident child. I was told a letter would be sent to the GP for follow up but when I went to the GP’s (5 days later as daughter was still unwell) the only thing on their system was the 111 call I had made.

Suggested improvements
I was told after enquiring that my daughter would go to the bottom of the list as she had been sent by A & E, that others have booked app times so will be infront of us, surely you should stay in a consistent queue and the time starts when you arrive. It would also be respectful to let patients know on signing in at reception how long the wait is. There needs to be somewhere to get a drink/food from - a vending machine, 3 hours in a long time. I returned as my daughter was no better and was seen on CAU this time. If worries are resolved the first time it would prevent re-attendances.
