Review of Ward B6 written by a patient
5th June 2017

I was dealt with for a somewhat embarrassing condition. The nurse and consultant who attended to me were superb. They were informative and the interaction with them was a true pleasure. I am deeply grateful to them both.

The ward was very busy (full) so the I didn't actually see any midwife or support the whole time I was on the ward from 8pm on the day I gave birth until my discharge the following afternoon. I wish that I had received more support with breast feeding.

The midwifes were lovely and were very professional, especially Sam who was there for the actual delivery of our baby girl.

I attended the ward to recover from barriatric surgery . It may be more comfortable for some patients if all the barriatric patients were together to miminise any anxiety at meal times . However this is the only thing slightly negative that I can comment on , the staff from all levels of support staff , student nurses , staff nurses , the sister and nurse practioners care was all second to none , job well done . In particular I would really like to say thank you to staff nurses , Helen & Adam , Sister Kim and nurse practinoner louise . They made my stay as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances .

My wife ,Marjorie D. Smith, was transferred to A & E from Cardiology. Both the nursing staff & doctors were extremely courteous & sensitive in their treatment & advice. A credit to the hospital. (This review is written on my wife's behalf)

My wife had an E.C.G. conducted by Claire Wright. Her pleasant manner & sensitivity put my wife at ease. This lady was highly professional & is a credit to the department. Our thanks for ensuring my wife's visit was as comfortable as possible. (This review is written on my wife's behalf)

I received great care by the midwife staff. Although I had 5 different midwives, they all introduced themselves and made the care seamless. There was some issue in regards to medication and how much I had received, it didn't seem as though everything had been documented. I felt let down by the care of the doctors though. One put a cannula in my arm and not my hand without consulting my midwife & the reason given for it being put in my arm was that she preferred to put them there. It was very uncomfortable & stopped working most of the time because I was bending my elbow. There was also a student doctor present when I was giving birth. He wasn't really introduced and at first I had no idea he was a student, it wasn't till another doctor arrived & took charge that I really knew what was happening. The student did not fill me with any confidence at all. He did not speak & had a look about him that he didn't really know what to do. This was particularly present when he came to stitch me up, he was on his own with needle & thread & a very confused look on his face. The other doctor came in & took charge thankfully. The care from the midwifery team was very good, but the care from the doctors let me down and was quite poor.

Very slow to see a midwife about my care. Very slow to discharge, the staff seemed to be very busy & I feel that I could have been discharged hours earlier than I was. Loved that my husband could stay with me overnight, it made a huge difference to my mental wellbeing as well as physically. Overall my care was ok but not fantastic

Review of A&E (Bassetlaw) written by a patient

From walking into a & e I was waiting 2hrs to see someone. I then got called to see a nurse by the name of Patricia Wilson. Patrica was very helpful and gave me good advice about my bad wound. She cleaned it up, put some cream on bandaged me up then gave a tetanus as I can't remember the last time I had one. Patricia then went and gave me some antibiotics just in case it was infected which was the reason I went to the hospital in the 1st place. If all the staff was as efficient and helpful as this member of staff I'm sure the NHS would be in a better condition.
