I was a patient at you practice for more than 30 years. I had a bad cough that had faded and come back again. It became really uncomfortable. I telephoned for a face to face appointment. I was told that they would let me know about an appointment. I later found out (I had to look on line) that I had been offered a telephone appointment in a further two weeks from the phone call. I called the surgery back andI said that I had requested a face to face. The receptionist could not help. I then called into the surgery in person to try for a face to face appointment. There was only on other person in the surgery at that time. The receptionist took my details - commented on how bad I was. (I could hardly get 2 words out at a time because of the cough and shortness of breath. She told me someone would call me later. This did not happen - so later that day I once again telephoned only to be told that a different doctor had said that he upheld Dr. Charles decision to give me a telephone appointment in 2 weeks and that would be sufficient. Because I felt so ill I decided to go (yet again - because on a previous occasion I could not get a appointment your practice) privately. I was seen the next day explained the position that I could not be seen by yourselves. She examined me thoroughly and told me that I had come at the right time as the cough had gotten a hold on me. She prescribed antibiotics to take for a week. These did not completely clear the infection so had to have a different set of antibiotics which did the job,

Suggested improvements
Well - the obvious answer is you could have seen me but failing that you could have spoken to me in person on that day. I feel that I was penalised because I a over 70 and that I had originally gone privately - but that was the case had I could not get in touch with the Surgery. I have since left your practice and found a different practice to attend.
