I have been registered with WestWalk Surgery Yate for 3 years and during that time I have never seen a doctor, even to just say "hallo". I have started to doubt if there are any doctors at the surgery. I have been a cardiac patient for 25 years (3 heart attacks and one out-of-hospital cardiac arrest). I have had an ICD inserted since 2005 (I am now on my fourth one). I have persistent atrial fibrillation that has become a permanent disability affecting my health and wellbeing. I recently asked for an annual medical review, but all I was offered was an appointment for a blood test and an interview with a pharmacist about my prescription medicine. The whole point of face-to-face appointments with doctors is that, by exchanging information and asking questions to patients, the doctor may succeed in spotting medical problems that the patient is unaware of his or herself.
IN MY VIEW THE WESTWALK SURGERY TOTALLY FAILS THE CENTRAL PURPOSE OF ITS EXISTENCE. IT PROVIDES LITTLE MORE ASSISTENCE AND ADVICE THAN I COULD OBTAIN FROM GOOGLE ON THE INTERNET.
