I recently had an appointment directly following on from a hosptal visit, which delayed me slightly, I telephoned to explain to which I was told quite rudely "if you are more than 10 mins late you will have to book again tomorrow". I arrived 12 mins late but was told "I won't be long" by the receptionist who was very loudly duscussing the callers details for everyone in the waiting room to hear, I waited for her to finish her call, I said I had an appointment at **** to which she bellowed at me"you will have to come back tomorrow". I said to her she had made me even later than I actually was as I was waiting for her to finish her call, her response was "well you will have to come back tomorrow. I was so annoyed and upset, I said I had telephoned to explain that I was running a little late due to the Hospital appointment, but hopefully should have made it in time. I am not a sickly person who lives in the Drs. day after day, I have been a patient at this practise for many years, I had never missed an appointment, I had never ever been late, but I had sat and waited to be seen way past my appointment time due to emergencies arising (and quite rightly so) so there was no way I was leaving without seeing a Dr. I was tutted and huffed at and when I was sitting down I was shouted at that there 2 people in front of me, I didn't reply or acknowledge this, I was fuming and getting more upset at the way I was being dealt with by a receptionist who felt she was far more important than me and didn't give a hoot about speaking to people in this manner. After about 5/6 mins I was then waved to, called by my name so sweetly and informed that she had managed to get me in! I couldn't even speak, I was so annoyed and upset to be treated this way. It is totally unacceptable to think the position you hold gives you the right to belittle people. You picked on the wrong person when you started on me. I am a professional person myself and should I have heard any of my staff speak to a member of the public in this manner they would have been disciplined severely. Understand you are dealing with people on a daily basis from many walks of life, with differing needs takes sympathy, patience and I am sure lots of 'teeth gritting' you do have a difficult job......but people should be treated with respect and dignity not as a piece of **** on the bottom of your shoe. Have a good day.
