I asked for an appointment and the receptionist said “you don’t want Dr X do you?”. I was stunned. How would the receptionist know? Unless…….. Dr X previously failed to recognize the symptoms of a very common disease and I raised this with the practice in a confidential letter.
It was therefore obvious that either the support staff read confidential letters or the GPs discuss patients with reception staff. Either way, it’s totally improper.
