I had such a great experience with nurse Michelle Black today. I requested for my children to see a Dr today when I called at 8 because I thought they may have chest infections and wanted them to be seen by a Dr. However when I checked in it said we were seeing a nurse. I wasn’t too happy about this as it’s happened to me before where I requested a Dr and got a nurse who didn’t have any answers for me and ended up booking a drs appointment for us the next day which was frustrating with 2 child in tow. I feel that I need to be listened to when I make a request as at the moment I don’t feel like I am. However…. The point of my feedback today is to celebrate how wonderful nurse Black was with me and my 2 little children. My daughter is 3 and suddenly doesn’t like the drs/dentist etc and was so nervous :( nurse Black was great from the start and got her a unicorn certificate to instantly put her at ease. She then spoke softly and was able to check her over without any resistance. My daughter skipped to the car after and said she now loves the drs and she had the best time! So please pass my thanks to Nurse Black as it’s care like this that I feel has been lacking and I truly haven’t felt cared for by the medical system for a very long time until today. I appreciate the system is overloaded and busy but when it comes to healthcare just a smile and an understanding attitude goes a long way instead of always feeling like we are on a conveyor belt.

Suggested improvements
It’s always hard to get an appointment but i prefer the call at 8 instead of the old number system where everyone had to wait in the cold to get a number and then sit and wait ages whilst feeling poorly. There was no hand sanitizer by the check in computer! And it was running out in the baby change toilet… These need to be checked regularly, especially at a drs surgery!
