All the well established doctors here (over 5 year service) and some of the more recent ones are good listeners, frequently come up with clear diagnosis, and have very good patient communication skills. They are involving, explain the broad reasons leading to the diagnosis or referrals, and do not make the patient feel under time pressure, which inevitably exists in all appointments. I have found one or two newer doctors to be at variance with some of the above, which seems at odds with the caring nature of their profession. A senior doctor should brief them about the prevailing culture at the practice. Finally the telephone appointments system is frequently a nightmare with phones constantly engaged, and at times, even when talking to a receptionist, one can lose an available appointment slot because multiple receptionists are attempting to book the same slot! In the long run, a solution has to be found to allow appointments up to two days ahead.
