At Buttercross Surgery there is a Wait sign telling people to respect the privacy of the person in front by standing back. However, as the whole of the reception is open, everything can heard and there is no privacy. At Ilchester there is a sign advising patients that any matter can be discussed in private. This is good. Sophie at Ilchester is always helpful and thinks laterally to resolve any communication problems. Receptionists should have access to Health Coach diaries to be able to make appointments for patients. In addition, the Health Coach telephone number has no answerphone facility so one has to redial and speak to receptionist who then tries to connect you.
