I wanted to get a cholesterol test and rang up in early February. I tried various pharmacies in order to avoid taking up valuable GP time. No tests available. It didn't seem straightforward at the surgery either. I had to see a nurse first, which was some weeks ahead, it wasn't urgent but necessary. Unable to have the test during this appointment, I have had to make another appointment in a week or so. I was also told that I had just missed the Well Woman Check Ups as I was over 74 - by some 3 years and it seems weird that I'm now excluded from these when surely more check ups are needed as we age, rather than being cut off. It's not a complaint, it's just that I'm asked to relay my experience! 2 months to wait for a blood test to see if my cholesterol is under control seems a long time. I suppose it used to be routine to go and see the doctor and have everything done there and then, examinations and advice.

Suggested improvements
It's not the fault of the surgery, just the overstretched system.
