I have been with this practice for around 14 years now. I'm very surprised with some of the reviews left here about the Swanswell Medical Team. I have been seen by our Late Dr Schuppler, Dr Jones, Dr Patel and more recently by Dr Steele and Dr Mangat aswell as the practice nurses. They are highly competent, thorough and attentive. Dr Steele has always been fantastic whenever I've had to discuss my several medical problems. I believe he specialises in musculoskeletal problems, in which he most definately has in-depth knowledge and an amazing knack at explaining any related issues to a lay person. Dr Mangat saved my son's life by immediately recognising septic arthritis at first glance. (developed after ACL reconstruction). He sent him urgently to A&E with a letter that he wrote as fast as he could. My son appeared fine whilst at the surgery but by the time we got to the hospital he was barely conscience and was whisked off for emergency surgery for severe septic arthritis.. He was told by the surgeon he was very lucky the septic arthritis was recognised and sent straight to hospital, any further delay he could have died or the best case scenario, he would have had his leg amputated. A hugh thank you to Dr Mangat. The receptionists try to be as helpfull as they can be given the circumstances and I've always got a suitable appointment or call back if requested. Although on one occasion I required a full immunisation history for a job. I paid £10 for this service but when I went to collect it it only had information regarding flu jabs I'd had in the last few years. I'm absolutely sure the receptionist knew that all the information was not in the document because when I asked her to write 'Full Immunization History' on the receipt (as I was going to claim back the £10 from the employer) she was reluctant and hesitating. She wrote just 'information' on the receipt. I asked her twice to write Full Immunization History and kept insisting and she was getting awkward. Eventually she ripped it out and wrote a second receipt, only this time she wrote ' Immunization Information' but refused to write 'History' before it. I was getting late so I left. When I handed the sealed envelope to Team Prevent they confirmed there was no history of the information required. I was not happy to be charged for a service that this receptionist had clearly not provided and left me out of pocket. I was not reimbursed and needless to say I had to have all the jabs again as this was a requirement of the job. This member of staff does need to be addressed, I have found her to be very apathetic towards other patients too. I would definately recommend this practice. You will get the care that you need but please bear in mind the Drs' are very busy and over worked. Please be conscise and get straight to the point. Any minor ailments please try to visit a pharmacy. Pharmacy staff are fully competent, trained healthcare professionals too and can help with most minor ailments/concerns. Thank you for taking the time to read this review. A hugh thank you to all the Swanswell team too. Keep up the exellent work.
