As with all receptionists thay are a rule unto themselves, but I always treat them the way I would like to be treated ... (Even though the calls are monitored message plays first)....by being polite and charming. Saying that I also take it that if they have a mood on it could be because of the last person they spoke to .... But ladies we have bad days as well... I find it hard to get appointments, and if your in the system to book online for an appointment then maybe it's better, but I have sat in the waiting area for more than an hour, at times. The popular doctors are hard to get appointments with ... The others are always there, but I haven't found a doctor that I can actually talk to and feel comfortable with yet, I feel rushed on most visits, and I feel I've been in and out inside my 10 minutes allotted to me, and a number rather than a person in need of care. Saying that, you are now able to get a Doctor to call you back, which is nice if you want a quick answer to something and are willing to wait for the call.... Bearing in mind you could be at work and need to talk in a private way and your in the middle of an office you can't leave. Appointments are also hard to fit in at times during working hours, when your not allowed to leave, and the receptionists get funny with you on you needing a particular day and time. Longer hours for opening would be good even though they are there till gone 6... When my shift pattern doesn't always allow me that time to get an appointment ... Espically my family members who do nights and lates or you finish work at 8pm and don't get home till 9pm...it's hard to get an appointment when your in bed after a shift late at night and they are closed. A 24 hour surgery would be wonderful, it would cut out hospital visits and time wasters for small problems and let the hospitals have freedom for the worst cases, yes it's a big ask, but it would be such a help, even if you were able to just call for advice. Yes I know the NHS on line do that, but in this day and age what place really does a 9-5 anymore. I would like to think my review has been honest and comments noted, and no comments were made against any particular person or Doctor.
