Doctors are great … if you can get to see them. First you have to go through a system designed in the 1950s. Today I failed to get an appointment after spending 15 minutes on a call during which the receptionist went through each doctor’s diary individually to see if there are any gaps. Their IT does not have a “search for next free slot” function! If they are wasting 10-15 minutes doing this for each patient (before telling them to call back in a week) it is no surprise that the call queues are long.

Suggested improvements
This surgery may do great medicine, and offer a wide range of services; but if they can’t professionalise their booking process, with better IT, less fragmented staff availability, and a friendlier reception culture, this will remain a truly horrible experience.
