I started calling the surgery at 0800 and finally got through at 0930. My 14 month old son had a fever which had peaked at 39 overnight despite the use of CALPOL etc. I was offered the minor ailments clinic. When I arrived at 0940 the waiting room was full however the receptionist assured me that the 'queue wasn't that bad'. However at 1140 - after nearly 2 hours of waiting I had to leave to collect my daughter from pre-school at 1200. My son had not been seen. There must be a better more effective and efficient way to manage the patients and appointments?

Response from Ruskington Medical Practice

I am sorry to hear of your disatisfaction with our minor ailment clinic, we have tried various solutions to increase the access to our clinics and alongside the Patient Participation Group we have brought in the daily minor ailment clinic which runs from 8.30am - 10am as I am sure you can understand, there can be a delay in being seen dependant on the number of patients attending. We have two nurse practitioners leading the service, which has proven to be very sucessful. We also have a duty team, operating daily as an emergency triage service. If I can be of any further assistance in this or any other matter please feel free to contact me, Kind regards Julie Walsh Practice Manager
