I have been with this surgery for over 70 years but it seems the receptionists now run this practice and not the doctors. I was discharged from hospital after having been coughing up blood and told to see my GP the day after discharge and that coughing blood was a red flag and the doctor would definitely see me even as an emergency appointment but unfortunately when I eventually got through this am at 8.25 (telephone line opens at 8.15) was told there were no appointments available - I explained I had been discharged from hospital and that the A and E doctor had told me I must see my own GP - the only response again from the receptionist was "we are fully booked" we dont have emergency appointments but you can have a telephone call from the doctor (has he got xray eyes and can see my condition 2 miles away)!!! Trying to get an appointment with a doctor at this surgery is a nightmare I dont understand how when lines only open at 8.15 all the appointments have gone 10 minutes later and if you try and book an appointment in advance told ring on the day what's the point if there are no appointments. Once you actually get past the receptionists and get to see a doctor the care is great but I think the receptionists need to be sent on customer care courses and need to be taught what is an emergency and take account of that and not make their own decisions. I have also been told by the GP I see to make an appointment to see him in 3 days time but when approaching the receptionist to tell them of the doctors decision their reply is we cant do that "ring on the day"!!!!
