I was led to believe that GPs should have more face to face contact with their patients, this has proved NOT to be the case. It took three visits to my pharmacy to get my repeat prescriptions and then there were some missing. I am not allowed to have my BP taken on a visit to the practice nurse. The whole atmosphere is against the patient and not for the the patient. When going to see the receptionist you often have to wait up to 10 minutes to talk to them as they are on the phone, of which one of the receptionist was on the phone gossiping to a patient. I almost lost the will to live. To get an appointment is like climbing a mountain, one Dr decried another Dr in the same practice, about prescribing anti biotics. When you go into the waiting room, it is like a morgue, nobody there ever, there is no one waiting for a Dr or a nurse, what do the staff do all day other than answer a phone, and is on the phone for 10 -20 mins at a time. Now they do not allow you to come in and have a simple blood pressure check, you have to do it yourself and or go to a pharmacy which is inconvenient as my pharmacy is so small there is not the space. Also it is too public. The pharmacy also told me that I was not the only one whose prescription does not arrive on time from that practice.I do not live far away fortunately, but what about the people who have problems. The whole attitude has to change for the patient and not against the patient.

Have decent receptionist. Change your attitude about seeing the patient. Allow the patient to have a choice on BP check ups, in the surgery. The whole attitude is negative towards the patient. Allow the patient to have an appointment face to face and not have to go through hoops to get there. Go back to the old ways of seeing the patient. Its bad enough being ill, made worse by the attitude of trying hard seeing you.
