If you are someone who rarely visits the doctirs and feel very unwell, after recurring bouts of tonsilitus and severe coughing, after three weeks of self medicating there is no improvement, decides to call the doctor, to be told the doctor will ring in 24 hours, isn't acceptable. Its not a patient focussed service when patients feel they don't matter.
Little wonder A&E departments are overstretched
