This review is not for all doctors or receptionists. However why I was given a nurses appointment for at that time query Quinsy I am unclear. I specifically requested a face to face appointment as I felt my condition was severe and I was told by one receptionist to take a PCR test in order to come in. Once I received the negative results of my PCR test I called again and was only allowed a telephone consultation with the nurse and they would suggest whether a further consultation with the doctor would be necessary. I provided photos as requested. During the phone consultation the nurse prescribed antibiotics and suggested I only go to hospital if I was struggling to swallow my saliva or breathe. 2 days later my condition worsened and I was treated in hospital for Quinsy - the doctor in A&E confirmed that an abscess had already been formed on the day I provided photos to the surgery. A doctor at the surgery was not consulted.
This is the second time I have been seriously ill and the surgery has not permitted face to face consultations, prescribing antibiotics without relevant and required testing to prove bacterial or viral infection. The last I was prescribed antibiotics only to find out in A&E it was glandular fever last year.
